Welcome to Stray Cycles
stray (verb)
to move away from a place where you should be,
or from a direction in which you should go.
stray (adjective)
having moved apart from similar things;
not in an expected or intended place.
more becomes enough
Stray Cycles was founded in 2023 to offer an alternative in a cycling industry increasingly driven by hyper-specialization, planned obsolescence, tech obsessions, and catering to the needs of pro-level athletes, the attention economy, and the constant pursuit of more.
More speed. More performance. More complexity. More consumption.
More for the sake of more.
We approach bikes differently. Built in small batches in Europe alongside independent builders and craftspeople, our bikes are designed around simplicity, reliability and a modern take on timeless, classic lines and materials - made for the kind of riding most of us actually do (or hope to one day do).
High-quality steel frames, thoughtful geometry, intentional design, and real-world capability.
Not every ride or rider is all about FKT's, K/QOM titles, zone optimization, chasing a viral "send" clip for social media, or following a line on a screen and capturing gigs of data to process and bio-hack. We make bikes for those unplugged rides.
Strong enough, fast enough, light enough, and built to carry what you need and last long enough to become part of your story.
at home in the unknown
A bicycle remains one of the simplest and most rewarding ways to move through the world - immersed in your surroundings so you can smell the approaching storm or feel the warmth of the rising sun on your chilled back. Slow enough to pause and consider an unplanned turn down an unfamiliar road or to stop for a conversation. Fast enough to range far and wide and disappear into the horizon under your own power and carrying the surprisingly few possessions you actually need.
Our bikes are made for adventures big or small, whether a thirty-minute ride after work, a weekend overnighter, or a hard-earned thirty-day expedition somewhere far from home.
Forest roads, forgotten tracks, rough climbs, uncertain surfaces. Most adventures aren't "epic", they're little escapes and small rejuvenations, chances to disconnect and reconnect.
Letting the trail ahead and the adventure unfold and develop, instead of chasing outcomes and trying to control what cannot (or perhaps should not) be controlled.
The destination is where you are right now.
functional beauty
Every detail on our bikes has been carefully considered and informed by countless hours pedalling, pushing and carrying over rough terrain in all conditions.
The result is a bike that feels balanced, composed and quietly capable. Comfortable enough for long days, playful enough to keep things interesting, and dependable enough to take you somewhere beyond where the road signs stop.
No suspension, no dropper, no unnecessary complexity. Just a thoughtfully designed steel frame, wide tires, low pressures and the confidence that your bike is built to be ridden, maintained and, if necessary, repaired far from the nearest bike shop.
Strong enough. Capable enough. Nothing more.
Not overbuilt.
Bikes with soul that will look best with a splatter of mud and the scars and patina of an adventurous and storied life.
made with intent
We work with small businesses and local suppliers wherever possible, choosing craftsmanship, long-term relationships and durable materials over scale.
Fair wages, local production, high-quality materials. Bikes designed to last.
Not marketing features - just the way we think things should be done. And yes, it costs a little more.
